Google realized that too many marketers was beginning to game the Google search engine, and it was taking money out of the “under the table” Google marketers, so Google had to make some changes. Google recently declares that it is the unique, quality content that ranks and nothing less.
One of the latest Google updates is Google Author Rank. This update came after the post penguin and panda Google updates. Similar to page rank, Google uses author rank to position website’s within the Google SERP. This is just one small part of the at large Google Algorithm. The difference is that page rank is based on the quality of web page where as author rank is defined to identify the authority of blogger.
To have your image positioned next to your Google listings, follow these instructions:
1. Author rank is centered on your Google plus profile. Create a Google+ profile if you don’t already have one. Your profile should contain a valid photo and email address along with your identity, and it must be verified by you.
2. You must then “Create a link to your Google profile” – from your website (on the about page of your website) by adding the following link, using the following anchor text:
<a href=”[Google profile_url]?rel=author”>Google</a>.
3. Add a reciprocal link from your profile your Google+ page. This will make your profile image become visible, with your content, within the Google search results.
