There was a neat little post on search engine roundtable today and it seemed to have raised interest in many website owners. The information provided by the author of the article was’t very useful, so I have decided to rehash the article here, in order to provide some insight on the topic. Truth is, the internet doesn’t hide anything – no matter the topic, it has been mentioned many times online, so whatever topics you and I decide to write, it has already been done, and as time moves forward, the web will be filled with more and more crap content. Search Engines rank articles higher in the search engine report pages (SERP) when the content is fresh (up to date), unique (not copied but written by you), and provides a lot of insightful information, in length.
How many backlinks you need to rank your website on the first page of Google or any other search engine, isn’t the question we need t answer here. The question is, how often should I create backlinks or at what consistency. When you build links without knowing what you’re doing, you can very easily set off red flags and spam filters via the search engines. Things like this is what gets your website penalized and or deindexed. Pay close attention, as I explain to you exactly how this is done correctly.
Link Velocity is the term used when defining the speed used, at which links are established. Link building should appear to the search engines to be as natural as possible. When I say that, it is extremely important that you follow the guidelines below:
In order to make your link building to appear as natural as possible, it’s really important to your businesses success that if you begin building links at a high volume, that you remain creating links at a high volume. Only gradual increasing is acceptable at anytime. If you start out building links at a low volume, then you my friend, better continue doing the same on a daily basis. It’s fine if you miss a day. Links are not found by search engines until any given search engine crawls the website in which you created a link. Some webmasters choose to ping their backlinks. Some choose to not ping their backlinks. I suggest you not to ping your links, it is much more natural if you allow search engines to find your links naturally. Pinging is acceptable at certain times only, those times are when you create links to places that are rarely crawled, such as forums profiles. I wouldn’t ping all those either. You don’t want a search engine (Google for instance) to locate 40k links today and only 3 links tomorrow. Remember – your links should always appear as natural as possible to any given search engine – at any given time. Anything less than that is just not acceptable tom search engines.
Search Engines are owned and operated by people – those just like you and me. As humans, we don’t like it when others take advantage of us. Then again, as long as Google is a search engine, there will be those who try and game it, and since Google is a system, it will always have loop holes. In life, we manage our day to day by doing what’s right (at least most of us do) and well — in order to succeed via SEO or link building, you must provide quality and build a legitimate website. Blackhat SEO is a very short term success, and those of you who practice blackhat marketing, will inevitably fail.
SEO is a long term process. Anything in life worth achieving, is never easy and as long as you always keep that in back of your mind, your never fail. SEO success doesn’t come over night nor were the pyramids of Egypt build overnight. No matter what you read on other websites, SEO takes time, unless you “attempt” to game the system or hire a blackhat marketer. It would be a damn shame to start making a lot of money and have your family thinking you’re doing something good to help them and that (false) success only last for one week. Those of you who are spammers and blackhat, should be ashamed. It doesn’t take blood, sweat and tears to make money online, but it does take a little effort and a little time.
In 2013 – in my opinion, the most beneficial form of link building is natural link building via content marketing. What exactly does all of this mean? It means that you must begin writing more content. Those who take my SEO Class, I make them write thirty articles, in thirty days. I have seen a huge success rate doing this with my clients. When you write thirty articles on your blog, in thirty days, it forms a habit. Afterwards you then, by yourself start to write a new, fresh and truly unique piece of content on your blog, daily.
Content that contains your personality is read and shared online. After you generate 60-90 posts, your website will begin to see a good bit of traffic, and those that enjoy your content, will share it. This is called natural link building. There’s none of that boring link building work required on your part, there’s only the creation of content involved. This is not only natural link building in the eyes of Google but it is the means of your success.
