The Underworld Of Local Search

Helping Website's Be The Best They Can Be Since 1999

The Local Search Revolution
So, why are search engines better than any other form of marketing for small businesses?
1. They are used by 80% of the consumers. Search engines are always on. Search engines are always there and consumers can instantly get information on demand.
2. The search engines provide the opportunity for any small business to over shine/outshine/overtake their competitors instantly. They don’t have to wait until the next edition is printed in the Yellow page. Can you imagine having your
competitor put an ad right over yours in the Yellow pages and you having to wait 3-6 months to get your ad over top of theirs if you can get it over top of theirs? Instant gratification. The advertising is targeted. You can target exactly, only the consumers who are looking for you instead of shotgun blasting. It would be like comparing traditional advertising to billboards, your just shooting a billboard at anybody who drive by it or an online billboard which would be a banner that can only show to people who are actively looking for a lawyer, or looking for legal services in your state.
3. Online campaigns are easy to edit, easy to make changes to far different from Yellow pages and print advertising.
4. You can capture the customers data, you can capture the customers information easily right there in the advertising. A billboard is not capturing the people’s names as they drive by. Yellow pages are not going to see how many people open up the Yellow pages and how many people actually touched your ad. Can’t do that with the Yellow pages, but you can do that with the banner ad, you can do that with your online marketing and you’re going to provide this ability to the local small businesses. For the first time ever, you’re going to give them an ability to know what their dollars are doing with their marketing.

Stepping outside of your comfort zone can be a real challenge, for many online internet marketers. This is also the primary reason why a huge percentage of small businesses fail. Regardless of how marketers might seem, while using Google Plus Communities, truth is they’re only comfortable behind a computer screen. For the bigger percentage of internet marketers and SEO’s this is a sad truth. This is also the sole reason for their failures.

Don’t let this happen to you. You don’t have to fail at your business goals. Offline marketing is the peanut butter and jelly of your business. Don’t let the online comfort of failure happen to you. I understand how easy it can be, to just sit at home, and do things to promote your business online. I also understand how you can put yourself in the position to be the leader, in your online world. Offline, in reality — you can’t always be the leader, but offline marketing is the golden nuggets to social networking. Social networking isn’t just an online strategy — social marketing is the life of any successful business.

There’s many different things you can do to market your business offline. Marketing your business — is not a online life. Stop hiding behind your PC and put your marketing experiences to work in your hometown.

What To Offline To Keep You Busy As a Marketer:

  • Advetise In Your Local Newspaper
  • Setup Business Signs In Your Local Area
  • Pass Out Flyers and or Post Them On Vehicles
  • Cold Calling
  • Talking To Local Business Owners

I really fell in love with this great video by Ed Parsons. Listen to what Ed himself has to say about Local Searches and Local SEO. This says a lot about what the year ahead, has to bring forth. I applaud those of you who’ve invested on your journey per marketing your business with local intent. For all those businesses who haven’t yet come to terms with just how powerful the internet is, their competitors are going to put a large % of them out of business this year. I can’t say I didn’t try to warn you!

I found the video transcript to have been posted here first, so I won’t be posting it here on RxSEO. If you would rather read what Ed has to say, instead of sitting back and listening to it, then click through.

The Underground World of Search

2013 is the year of Local. Prepare for what’s ahead by getting an early start. Use the contact form in our sidebar to contact us right away!

Just because some of you out there are search engine marketers and web developers, that doesn’t mean that the rest of the world is just like you. In fact — the biggest percentage of people who browse online have no earthly idea what an organic search listing is or how to know when they see one. Many of you who practice SEO and offer your SEO services are completely BLIND when it comes to conversions. You’re trying like hell to sell SEO when in truth your potential customer don’t even know what SEO is — when in reality they need it more than anything.

What I’m going to do here today, isn’t for our regular readers, but is for the beginner marketer and for the average person who wants a clearer view of what organic search results are and how to tell them apart from the rest of the crap Google shows them. Before I delve too deeply into this subject I first want to lay down the laws of using Google.

How To Use Google & A Greater Understanding of the Google Search Engine

Rule number one: The next time you perform a search on Google, whether it be for a toy for your little girl or for some new tools for your husband – after you enter your keyword and hit “enter” – Google pulls up a whole page of listings. DO NOT CLICK ON THE ONES YOU SEE FIRST (On Top Of The Page). These will have a pinkish tent behind them, pink in color. These are paid advertisements. Businesses pay Google a lot of money to have their ads placed there and Google also subtracts another fee each and every time someone clicks on their ad. These listing (Ads) will take you to a website, normally a low quality website. A website where the website owner didn’t have to work to achieve these high placements on the first page of Google – they paid for them. To receive the much higher quality sites, those with the much higher quality information and better quality products – you need to avoid the ads, and scroll down to below the colored background ones.

Here’s a Better View For You

how to use google

The above image is an image I took directly of the first page of Google. The ads will be shown to YOU placed above the Organic listings. Organic listings are listings that achieved that position in Google by working very hard and doing whats right for all their customers.

Smarty Pants Marketing was founded in Morehead, Kentucky by a young man who goes by the name of Gregory Smith – Gregory was 26 years old when he created his first startup. Gregory had a life-long passion of becoming a successful entrepreneur. Growing up in Winston Salem North Carolina, Greg started working at a fairly young age for his father, who was a Construction contractor. Greg’s dad wasn’t your average dad, Greg’s dad was fairly tough on Greg – he held his son up to high standards.

At the age of sixteen, Greg began managing a seamless gutter company (crew) for his father, putting Greg in charge of men much, much older than him. Construction work comes with a different type of men, those that are rugged, work for hardly nothing just to get by, convicted felons, drug addicts – you name it. All while Greg had no choice in the matter, Greg felt a strong since of pride knowing that he had his own business (or at least felt like he did). It’s fair to say that Greg grew up fast, with a father who didn’t really know how to show him love, other than providing him with money, and putting him in charge of a few hard knocks.

Greg had no need to continue going to school. He dropped out of high school at a young age, going to work for himself. Sad to say, but…Greg dwelt at a life full of failures and attempts. Let’s just say that Greg didn’t get what he had expected. Later in life, after learning things the hard way, Greg went back to school to get his G.E.D and continue his education.

Making a Long Story Short

Greg was the type who stood his ground and worked really hard for what he got. After growing up the way Greg was forced to, he had enough mistakes in his past, to have learned a lot from them. Greg was a man with many talents, a jack of all trades — and Greg was sick of not getting anywhere with his talents, after trying just about everything there was to try, in order to jump back on his feet, Greg had took about all life could possibly throw at him, and after many years of agony, something inside of him told Greg — why not take a go at computers again. Greg was always a charm working with computers as a child.

Yesterday I had three interested potential customers to contact me — Customers teach us so many things, we more so than not, look over the learning experience of it all. Today I felt the need to offer some awesome benefits to you marketers, as well as those of you whom are a network marketer, promoting an MLM company. This article isn’t going to talk about pyramid schemes, nor am I going to try and recruit you. What I am going to do however — is show you exactly what you’re doing wrong and teach you just how easily you can follow my exact MLM network marketing blueprint. Tons of MLM companies fail every month online, and so do thousands of network marketers involved in an MLM. This isn’t a coincidence, it’s been the same damn thing for many years. So much so that many have labeled MLM as a pyramid scheme, which is untrue. You simply have to have the “know how” — I’m afraid that the rest is a cake walk.

When I started out as an internet marketer, I was far from a guru. In fact, I was in the exact learning phase, as you’re in today.  All of us – have to take one baby step at a time, until we reach the top of this mountain were climbing. Whether you succeed in “your business” is solely up to you. Some of us never give up. We are destined for success. Though as long as you’re involved in an MLM — there’s really only a couple of ways to succeed. If you’re someone who plans to make a ton of money daily, online, you have no option but to “follow what I have to say” word by word.

I had to have money to make money — especially online. -Brian Finale

I mentioned above that there’s only a couple of ways to succeed in an MLM — I’m not trying to sell you anything what-so-ever. I’m not going to provide you with a list of the “couple of options”, because without leveraging this one, there’s no since in wanting to know what the others are. They all go together — plain and simple. To leverage an MLM, as I have done for hundreds of network marketers and for myself, you must own your very

There was a neat little post on search engine roundtable today and it seemed to have raised interest in many website owners. The information provided by the author of the article was’t very useful, so I have decided to rehash the article here, in order to provide some insight on the topic. Truth is, the internet doesn’t hide anything – no matter the topic, it has been mentioned many times online, so whatever topics you and I decide to write, it has already been done, and as time moves forward, the web will be filled with more and more crap content. Search Engines rank articles higher in the search engine report pages (SERP) when the content is fresh (up to date), unique (not copied but written by you), and provides a lot of insightful information, in length.

How Many Backlinks Do I Need?

How many backlinks you need to rank your website on the first page of Google or any other search engine, isn’t the question we need t answer here. The question is, how often should I create backlinks or at what consistency. When you build links without knowing what you’re doing, you can very easily set off red flags and spam filters via the search engines. Things like this is what gets your website penalized and or deindexed. Pay close attention, as I explain to you exactly how this is done correctly.

How Many Backlinks Do I Need?

Fast or Slow ?

Link Velocity is the term used when defining the speed used, at which links are established. Link building should appear to the search engines to be as natural as possible. When I say that, it is extremely important that you follow the guidelines below:

In order to make your link building to appear as natural as possible, it’s really important to your businesses success that if you begin building links at a high volume, that you remain creating links at a high volume. Only gradual increasing is acceptable at anytime. If you start out building links at a low volume, then you my friend, better continue doing the same on a daily basis. It’s fine if you miss a day. Links are not found by search engines until any given search engine crawls the website in which you created a link. Some webmasters choose to ping their backlinks. Some choose to not ping their backlinks. I suggest you not to ping

We had a blog. We had an audience that then became our customers.” ~ Jason Fried, 37Signals.

I’ve read many online and offline articles about how business have succeeded solely because of their blog. Most of those stories have been really inspiring and truly amazing. For instance 37Signals, who launched BaseCamp with their blog as it boasted tens of thousands of subscribers. Or Wufoo, doing it in a similar manner though they originally started out with a blog, which lead to a successful business. There’s a ton of blogs online, and just about all of them drive huge amounts of traffic to their business.

I have ventured into many startups on my own. I love the challenge that comes with building a profitable business. I’m not saying any of them was easy, though I am saying that having a blog took away 90% of the challenge.

1.) A blog brings you signups

A blog allows your readers to learn a lot more about your services, products and business. When they enjoy your content, you establish dedicated followers (customers).A

Here, I found that it is key that you create a strong call to action to make it easy for people to click through to your main site. Invest a few bucks in a nice WP-theme so people understand increases your search engine position, due to more content on your website.

MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR IN-HOUSE SEO

You’ve made the first all-important decision to hire an SEO practitioner, so the next question is where in your organisation do you place your in-house SEO for maximum benefit to your business?

A couple of important factors that will make a difference over where to put your in-house SEO are the budget for head count and ownership of the site.

Depending on your structure, a temporary position might make perfect sense. In this situation your in-house SEO may well report to two different bosses. A temporary in-house SEO is unique in that his or her sole purpose is to work as closely as possible with product or developers in order to get SEO changes made quickly. This can work particularly well as the role of your in-house SEO will be very project orientated and in this way you can expect your SEO actions to move at a particularly good pace.

If, on the other hand, you are looking at your new in-house SEO as a permanent team member they will probably have been hired by an individual department with a view to working with a single boss. Then your in-house SEO will work with different departments in the organisation.

You may place your in-house SEO as part of your company’s IT group. The thinking behind this is that as they have site ownership it makes sense to make your in-house SEO part of this group. But let’s hold on a moment here. It may appear to be logical, as the ethos of this group is technology-based and ensuring the smooth running of the site, to place your in-house SEO there. But it can be a mistake to let such an infrastructure group decide how to market your site. Should you then decide to place your in-house SEO in this way, the marketing part of SEO will be sacrificed and before long you could be looking at staff leaving. Another danger here is that your in-house SEO will be challenging marketing to get important changes the go-ahead when it should be the other way round.

In some cases, putting your in-house SEO in the design and development team makes good sense. The key factor here is whether this team has been set up with a view to having ownership of the site. Providing this is the case, the chances are that placing your in-house SEO there would work particularly well – after all, your in-house SEO is there to make changes to the site.

It is more difficult to see why your in-house SEO should report to Corporate Communications however. This is because while many organisations look at their website as part of their communications team the in-house SEO would then be too far removed from marketing and other teams.

A place for your in-house SEO in the product team is a better move for the purpose of getting things moving quickly. But we are looking at this in the context of a temporary fix rather than a long term solution.

It is little surprise to discover that so many in-house SEOs these days are part and parcel of a marketing department. The beauty of this is that your in-house SEO is part of Search Engine Marketing and a very important asset towards the goal of business growth. You will quickly be able to appreciate why your in-house SEO should work with email and social media. Customers may have heard about your services through a Tweet or Facebook before doing a Google search. Placing your in-house SEO here helps ensure your marketing campaigns are well planned.
