The Underworld Of Local Search

Helping Website's Be The Best They Can Be Since 1999

Category: Link Building

Last updated by at .

Web 2.0 properties have become a really powerful resource to marketers, and have proved to be an SEO’s best friend. While directories sunk like a rocket, and platforms such as classifieds are almost unheard of anymore, Web 2.0 sites are growing, and becoming more popular now, than ever before. Search engines favor Web 2.0 properties, for their social popularity, and that popularity will only increase as 2o13 passes by. I’ve put together a sweet little list of the 60 best Web 2.0 platforms, and have ordered them by their rightful Page Rank.

This list can be used for many different things, whether it be for link building or whatever, that’s your business.

Here’s the list:

If you’ve been doing search engine optimization or link building for more than 5 minutes, you know that Web 2.0 properties (or web 2.0  websites) are a great way to distribute your content and gain some pretty valuable backlinks.

List Of 60 Best Web 2.0 Properties Ordered by Page Rank

These web 2.0 platforms are great for external blogging and should be part of your online marketing.

Some of these web 2.0 properties have very powerful toolbar PR (page rank) — with a little bit of added work and a little effort, it’s possible for you to build up your posts page rank and give more authority to your backlinks (Hint Hint ;) ).

PLEASE Don’t go spamming these sites because your content will quickly get removed, and all that hard work, will have been for nothing — and your account, email and IP will become banned. Plus spamming just isn’t cool…

Think about it for a moment here guys, look around at what the rest of the Local Search Community is offering you. Open new browser tabs and just look around — truth is, there isn’t a Local SEO website on the web that provides competitive Local SEO Strategies. I’m more than familiar with all the Local SEO professionals around the web today, but..I’m subscribed to all their websites and blogs and I know first hand what they’re doing. Keeping up with my competition, is a small part of my job. I hope you do the same, with your competitors.

Local SEO’s seem to be misled, mis-taught or just plain out lost — in my opinion. I’m not trying to ring anyone inparticular’s doorbell here, I’m just being blunt about the reality of the Local SEO community and knowledge that’s on the web. Truth is, if they was providing REAL strategies, there would be a lot more of you banking it online. That’s just a simple fact. Everyone isn’t stupid, and not everyone want’s to keep reading about basic services day in and day out. Google+ this and Google+ that. We learned how to market via social media platforms, back when Myspace first hit the web. For those of you who do need the more basic things, I’m sure you can agree with me, that there’s already enough of that to go around.

If you’re anything at all, like me, then you’re ready to get deep into some REAL Local Link Building Theories and Link Terminologies and of course “Advanced Link Building Tutorials“!

Advanced Local Link Building Theories and Link Terminologies

First Off —- There’s no such thing as Whitehat or Blackhat SEO.. In the world of business, these tpe of strategies are solely described as risk, and depending upon the amount of RISK that any given company is willing to take, compared to the amount of risk the other company is willing to take, is the only thing that seperats us as marketers. In life, no matter what business you’re involved in, there will always be jelously. If you feel you have room enough to take a little bit of risk, or your clients feel like taking some risk, hey —- this is the life of all businesses. There’s not ONE business out there who hasn’t taken a risk at some point or another.

I’m so friggin sick of seeing these noobs on these social platforms acting like they are SEO gods, in truth they don’t know their ass from their toes. If you’re someone who feels it’s devil worshiping to take risk in SEO, then I advise you to go find yourself another blog post to read, because were going to talk about how to make some cash through serious link building strategies, like it or not.

I do not believe in doing anything illegally BLACK, but I do believe in the link building process, so let’s talk link building, shall we?

Matt Cutts Video on Links and 301 Redirects Passing Page Rank: For a long time now, there have been tons of discussions about Links and whether or not they pass page rank and etc. Many webmasters have thought that a 301 redirect wouldn’t pass as much page rank [Link Juice] as a regular [Do Follow] link would, and up until today — we haven’t been able to say for sure, one way of the other. Thanks to a post I found on SERoundtable, my doubts are now conformed, and so should be yours.

As an SEO, I really enjoy using social share buttons on all of my websites, and the websites of my clients. Social share buttons provide an easy to understand and easy to use social share opptortunity. Social share buttons allow my website visitors to easily share my content on social media platforms like Google+ and Facebook! Share buttons also allow for me (and anyone else) to know how many times a particular piece of content has been shared. Making for simple social media metrics.

I’ve started using a brand new tool today, one that was created by hubspot and one that works exceptionally awesome. This tool isn’t just for Search Marketers like those here at RxSEO, but this tool can and should be used by basically any and everyone who has a website and is interested in syndicating your content to the social media monster platforms.

How Many Social Shares Did That Get? [FREE TOOL]

And because these buttons are so popular, if I feel an urge to compare the sharing data for my content with that of my competitors’ content, I can typically just navigate to the other site and see what that website’s buttons say. But some sites don’t have those social sharing buttons set up. And without those public-facing sharing buttons, there’s no good way for me to check up on how many times a given URL was shared.

Link Tally makes it easy for you to perform a competitor analysis of basic to advanced social metrics. This provides a user friendly platform, one that anyone can use to compare social metrics. 2013 makes it easy to compare, just go here to get your free tool linktally.com

Your FREE Tool

This tool is not a desktop based tool, therefor it doesn’t take up room on your PC. All you have  to do, to use it, is simply visit the URL where the free tool is located. Make use of it, because it has just been introduced to the market a few minutes ago.

If you think this new social shares tool will be useful in the future, please comment below with your opinions.

How Important Is Google+ For My Local BusinessWhat used to be called Google Places, is now called Google Plus Local. If you’re a legitimate business, then making sure you have a Google Plus business page setup, is vital to the overall success of your business. Google+ is quickly becoming the most used social media platform, for businesses all over the world.

Given that Google is generating (by my estimate) about 80% of local leads in the US and more in Europe it is essential that the listing is correct and has granular category detail about what your business does.

How Important Is Google+ For My Local Business

I just finished reading a really interesting post, the post was actually an interview of Mike from Blumenthal. Mike is said to be one of the most reputable local search marketers in the world of local search, and from what I’ve seen, I’m not going to argue that. You can judge for yourself, by reading through the interview found on another blog. After reading through the interview, you should have a pretty good idea of how important Google+ is for your business.

I am a regular user of Google+ — I really enjoy using its platform, and I love all its features. I’m not a big fan of social media at all, but Google+ has changed that. Since I’ve been using Google Plus (First Month It Came Online) I’ve learned many ways to benefit from it, and would like to share some of my secret Google Plus marketing strategies with my readers. Before I delve into the meat and nuts of this post, keep in mind that there’s a to of awesome advise located in the mentioned link, above.

What I Have Learned From My Experiences On Google Plus

As a local search optimization professional, I’m steadily reviewing other sites and using Google all day long — on most days. What I’ve come to find through my website reviews, more so than not is that most websites aren’t optimized for on site strategies. Before you leave this page, due to you already knowing all there is to know about on site SEO – give me a moment of your precious time.

Many of the sites I’ve recently reviewed are those of my competitors — SEO Companies. To my surprise, most of these SEO Companies had a very poor on site SEO score.

Whoa — Why is This?

It’s simple — most people, including SEO’s like to presume that Link Building is number one. Now, don’t get me wrong, there are more than enough websites out there that teach things that are far from the truth. It’s not because these website authors are trying to lead you in the wrong direction, it’s solely due to the fact that they too was taught the wrong way. They paid a little bit too much attention to those who called themselves professionals, when in reality they are still a baby in this business.

I tend to not judge others. Those who fell into the trap of the blind leading the blind. These guys simply need to be taught how to do things more correctly.

One of the biggest misconceptions in the SEO community is:

Title tags: Google measures it in character limits. This is not true. Google measures title tags by pixels.

In order for you to make sure your title tags are SEO optimized correctly, you need to export your title tag data into an Excel doc. You then must change the font you’re using, to Arial. Make sure to use font size 12. This is exactly what Google uses.

Set the Excel column width to 520 pixels — that’s Google’s cut off limit. Anything more than the standard 520 pixels is going too be too long and anything under 350 pixels is going to be too short. Follow the directions I’ve provided you 100%

My Recommended guideline for perfectly optimized title tags:

Roughly 50 to 65 characters in length.
Use unique titles on every page.
Use the title tag keyword twice (once at the start, followed by separator, and then once again in a call to action).
If relevant, include a geo-qualifier (such as Kentucky or Morehead, Ky).

Image Optimization Tips:

One of the biggest mistakes I see, is how webmasters (webdummies) use numbers and other crap to identify an image. I’m not talking about the image ALT text, I’m referring to the “name” of the image. This plays an important role in your overall optimization score.

Image names should be description in nature. They should accurately explain to a search crawler what the image is about. If your image is used as a link, the ALT tag functions in place of the anchor text. A linked image should follow this structure:

By ensuring that all images are properly named and tagged, you will not only increase the SEO value of those images, but you will increase the likelihood of receiving referral traffic from image search results.

Local Search Optimization isn’t just about Link Acquisition. Above I’ve provided a couple of awesome tips you can be using, to help you do much better in search. I will be providing a more in depth article, including more advanced tutorials, in our upcoming blog posts. Stay tuned!

When you think of link building you think of what you’ve been taught through random SEO internet sources. Sad to say but the majority of SEO’s on the internet in today’s marketing era are saturated with what they’ve been taught. If you was lucky enough to have gained information from one of the very few veteran SEO’s, then I applaud you, for the rest of you — it’s time you found a new source of information and learned a thing or two about link acquisition and how to apply link building for local search.

Link building can be really tricky due to all the false information on the web, and due to all the tricks that the novice link builders have written about, while they was very likely still learning to implement their new link building software. Link building is not done automatically with software. I realize that there’s tons of link building software on the market today and in order to know what works and what doesn’t, takes a ton of trial and error. Anyone who has been building links for a long time knows all too well that blackhat SEO doesn’t work and those who have gotten it to work for them, came to learn first hand that blackhat SEO is a very short term business life. Google is becoming too smart and too powerful in today’s marketing age to attempt anything outside the box. Sure, things like that used to work, “back in the day” — but today it’s just childish to assume you’ll achieve TOP search rankings from childs play.

Enough about that — let’s talk link building for local search. When it comes to establishing backlinks for a local SEO campaign, things are done differently, from how their done when implimenting an international SEO link building approach. Makes since, as times progresses, so does marketing strategies. If things was the same today as they was 15 years ago — everyone and their granny would have attacked the internet, and Google wouldn’t be anything close to what its become. The next time you see someone writing about how much they hate Google, etc keep this post in mind. Google can’t simply continue with their tail between their feet.

After seeing warnings by the truck loads recently — webmasters and small businesses alike

Local Link Building – - From all the riff raff I’ve listened to throughout all this Google Penguin crap, I’m almost to the point of being sick of telling people that spam doesn’t work. I wish I knew how many times I’ve told business owners that in order to manage a successful online presence, one must build their website with quality links and quality content. That’s really what it all boils down to. People aren’t just now starting to build successful websites or make money online. Online marketing and SEO has been going on now for almost 20 years! Get with the program guys.

Here’s a really awesome video that I think many of you will enjoy.

Link Building Tips 2013

A little hard work goes a long ways, especially when you practice what you preach. Local Link Building is different from your average link building campaigns. If you’ve never targeted a local keyword before, you sure as hell don’t have any business offering local SEO services – you need a ton of hands on practice by practicing on your personal sites – long before you go spamming your services. What gets me is that not everyone can be a SEO. SEO isn’t something you just one day decide you want to do, then just do.
