Category: Google Plus for Local Search

How Important Is Google+ For My Local BusinessWhat used to be called Google Places, is now called Google Plus Local. If you’re a legitimate business, then making sure you have a Google Plus business page setup, is vital to the overall success of your business. Google+ is quickly becoming the most used social media platform, for businesses all over the world.

Given that Google is generating (by my estimate) about 80% of local leads in the US and more in Europe it is essential that the listing is correct and has granular category detail about what your business does.

How Important Is Google+ For My Local Business

I just finished reading a really interesting post, the post was actually an interview of Mike from Blumenthal. Mike is said to be one of the most reputable local search marketers in the world of local search, and from what I’ve seen, I’m not going to argue that. You can judge for yourself, by reading through the interview found on another blog. After reading through the interview, you should have a pretty good idea of how important Google+ is for your business.

I am a regular user of Google+ — I really enjoy using its platform, and I love all its features. I’m not a big fan of social media at all, but Google+ has changed that. Since I’ve been using Google Plus (First Month It Came Online) I’ve learned many ways to benefit from it, and would like to share some of my secret Google Plus marketing strategies with my readers. Before I delve into the meat and nuts of this post, keep in mind that there’s a to of awesome advise located in the mentioned link, above.

What I Have Learned From My Experiences On Google Plus

For a very long time now people have had questions relating to social media having benefits on search engine ranking factors. I’ve written post in the past pertaining to some case studies that showed Twitter (Tweets) to add benefits to ones ranking and I have seen others speculate the same. Some presume that Facebook “likes” add value to ones Facebook fan page, then again I suppose it would, otherwise why would there be a such a thing as a “like”. Either way these aren’t something I would have given enough attention to. And now Google+ ? Wait a minute…

@MarkTraphagen Has Eric Scmidt Really Just Confirmed Author Rank?

It’s true — Google Plus has tons of benefits on your search ranking factors. We will discuss some of those factors a little further down the post — for now let’s just take a look at what Google Authorship really is. I’m sure that by now you’ve read a lot of articles or, at least seen a lot of articles about Google Authorship.  There has been a little bit too much confusion when it comes to Rel=”Author” and Rel=”Publisher”. I’d be surprised if the mass majority of you are even aware of how or why you should use these, and how very important they’re now becoming.

I’ve had a few people ask me to help them to get their picture to show up next to their Google listing, like they’ve seen some of the others doing. I’m personally surprised at how long this has been available, for the majority to just now be figuring out what it even is.

Google Employees have what they refer to as a privacy act. They’re not suppose to publicly discuss algorithm factors, unless otherwise given permission. So, it’s fiesable to say that it’s been a while since a Google employee has made a public statement, concerning

I was reading a post today on a local SEO website, that was discussing the Google Plus MapMaker and how shitty it really is. Then I fell on top of a comment by Jeffery Manger .

FYI the Mapmaker interface totally blows. What a confusing, ineffective, waste of my time. Maybe there is written instructions in a booklet somewhere on how to actually use this thing.”

Without a doubt, I agree with Jeffery. My first impression of the MapMaker was that I couldn’t believe that the team over at Google couldn’t do a better job than that on their MapMaker. What a shame! It’d take a complete blow Joe to figure out how to use the damn thing — what makes it a shame is that we regularly see Matt Cutts and all the other Googlers rampaging about how we need to focus on more quality and  a more user friendly website. Google is regularly (daily) de-indexing websites and penalizing them either by Google penguins or Pandas or what ever.

There is a new, simplified MapMaker interface being rolled out in Canada that makes editing directly into MapMaker much easier.

After hearing about the “new”, more simplified MapMaker interface that rolled out in Canada — I couldn’t help but to rush over to see it, and give it a whirl. What a difference! To take a look at it for yourself — all you have to do is use Google+ and search for a

If I had to guess I’d say that 100% of you have asked yourself or someone else this question, at some point in the past. The question still remains — some speculate whether or not there’s actually an answer to such a question — pertaining to which keyword one would be focusing on.

How long will it take before I’ll see my ranking results?

All of my clients have asked this question. It never fails, and I don’t suspect it ever will. I’ve started giving all my clients the same answer, even though all my clients are very different, the fact shall remain; how long it will take to get YOU rankings — will determine many factors, though one of those will always conclude — Local SEO is a long term process, and doesn’t come overnight. Although this is the answer in which makes many potential customers turn their cheek from wanting to invest in SEO, it’s a fact. Whether or not you predict your business to be standing in several months from now, should also be something you should be concerned about. I’ve never really understood the fact that clients want results now — but not tomorrow. Sure Local SEO takes some time, and then again so does anything worth achieving.
